Learning Community for Native Success (LCNS)
Leading Change
AB516 (Dahle) started with the American Indian Advisory and allows for excused absences for religious ceremonies and events. Chronic absenteeism in Shasta County dropped from 43.1% in 2021-22 to 29.9% in 2022-23.
The Harsh Reality
In the Juvenile Rehabilitation Center, 4 out of 5 female students have had sex traffic exposure. 40% of sex trafficking victims are identified as American Indian or Alaskan Native women.
We are currently hosting Talking Circles at our JRC and will be providing Restorative Practices.
“We are a resilient people. We are a people of hope. We are still here, and thriving.”
